I am never free
from a sudden intrusion
of an image in nature
or a structure
that is focused
in a perfect design,
and the shutters
of my mind
snap tightly,
and there we are,
the image and I
locked together
in a kind of agony.

Only sometime,
with pastel or oil,
in a clumsy way,
do I arbitrate.
