Recognition passed
Between the two
At the cosmetic counter.
Make-up did not hide
Love on the younger face,
Rejection on the other
As they discussed
Moisturizers and creams
Across the counter
Of their years.

One thinking
His wife must be like her.
The other,
It is someone like she
Who takes him from me.
