I shall be thin again
In old age,
With eyes that remember laughter.
I will wear simple straight dresses
of clean cotton
in yellow and pinks.
Grow vegetables
in my own garden.
Cook soups of dried legumes
and be always a trailing foe
Of household clutter,
though a small spider
or two might escape me.
I will scrub and polish,
plant and take walks,
love art and nature,
forgive people
and on a quiet morning,
not wake.
